What is a Worm?
A worm is a computer program that can copy itself from computer to computer
without help. Worms move around a network and infect other computers all on
their own. In other words, it does not need to be activated by opening an attachment
or allowing a program to run. It does it all on its own.
Once activated on a network, a worm can expand from a single copy to hundreds of thousands of copied very quickly. Worms may carry the same payload as a virus (DDOS attacks, identity theft, computer zombies).
